Annotation: Library education has all prerequisites and significant opportunities for active implementation of e-learning. For development of this direction we need to explore the subject area of e-learning. For these purposes, method of bibliometric analysis of scientific publications was used to explore next terms: e-learning, distance learning, information and educational environment and electronic educational environment. The reference journal “Informatics” for the period from 2000 to 2016 was used as a basis for the investigation. After analysis, 720 sources were selected as research objects. The dynamics of the documentary flow containing terms “e-learning,” “distance learning,” “informational educational environment” and “electronic educational environment” was analyzed. As a result of the analysis of the documents flow for each discussed term, a list of authors studying the problem was identified. The article provides a comparative analysis of foreign and Russian publications and a description of the thematic structure of the documentary flow. As a result of the research, it was determined: the authors’ sustained interest in the problem of e-learning was outlined in 2007; the peak of the study of the problem occurs in 2015; since 2012 there is a preponderance of Russian publications in the flow. E-learning is primarily understood by authors as a joint activity or interaction of participants in the educational process through information and communication technologies. The largest number of publications on the topic “distance education” was published in 2012. This is linked with the development and opening the programs for distance education and retraining the library specialists. The content analysis of publications on the keywords “information and educational environment,” “electronic educational environment” showed that the authors are mainly interested in the issues of their use in the educational process. The documentary flow on the investigated problem demonstrates the authors’ constant interest in this topic. The insufficient development of the terminological system in area of the research in regulatory, reference and scientific publications has been revealed. A number of works have been identified that covers the implementation of e-learning in library information activities and can become fundamental in the development of the e-learning concept of a library specialist.
