SOCIAL THEATER AS A PSYCHOLOGICAL-PEDAGOGICAL PHENOMENON OF THEATRE CULTURE OF THE 20TH AND 21ST CENTURIES

Annotation: The theoretical interpretation of the social theatre as a significant phenomenon of the theatre culture of the 20th and 21st centuries is considered in this article. The social theatre developing in the performance art has an unquestionable psychological and pedagogical potential, which is realized in such forms as: theatre therapy, psychodrama, forum theater, Class Act, documentary theater, etc. Social theater is a phenomenon that develops as interdisciplinary art at the intersection of theater and pedagogy, art and psychology, exposing and helping solve societal pain points. The social theatre has and realizes the psychological and pedagogical potential, which requires its scientific comprehension. Studying this phenomenon of theatrical culture based on identifying and substantiating the educational, psychotherapeutic, social and rehabilitation and other potentials gives us a chance to follow the formation of social theater as a psychological and pedagogical phenomenon. The social theater characteristics as a psychological and pedagogical phenomenon for the development of socially significant personal qualities of participants in theater projects are given in the article. The definition of the “social theatre” concept in English-speaking countries (Great Britain, Australia), in Germany, Africa, Asia and Latin America, Russia is analyzed here. The actual psychological and pedagogical approaches to working with a person in theatre projects of the XX and XXI centuries are revealed on methods and projects N. Yevreinova, Moreno, A. Boal, the project “Class Act” in the theater “Traverse” (Edinburgh), the theater project “Together” (St. Petersburg). The conclusion reveals the tasks and characteristics of theater projects of the social theater, structures the examined psychological and pedagogical approaches affecting the development of an individual.
