ROCK MUSIC AND ROCK CULTURE: ABOUT DEFINITIONS OF CONCEPTS

Annotation: We apply to the question about relation between such terms as rock music and rock culture. These concepts are linked with phenomenon subculture and counterculture. We should research this context too. This problem got to our focus because rock music has important place in modern culture still. The main part of the article is devoted to overview of theoretical theses by Russian authors about these questions. Scientifi c rock discourse consists of aesthetic, sociological and anthropological approaches. Besides it we can talk about journalistic approach. One can call such authors as A. Vasilyeva, G. Vlasova, E. Kasyanova, G. Knabe, A. Kozlov, E. Myakotin, I. Nabok, T. Nevskaya, V. Syrov, A. Troitsky, S. Shapovalov. All of them had formed discourse on the base of concept of rock music. They introduced into the science concepts existence, protest, Dionysian culture, “Faust” civilization, individualism, forming, accelerated modernization, dedecation, cohesion, identity. These concepts help to introduce rock music and rock culture into discourse of philosophy of culture. In result of analysis we talk about following. Rock music is a nuclear of rock culture. It is combination of aesthetic and social facts. Rock culture has elements of subculture and counterculture. It can be described as cultural form. It is important to pay attention to difference rock music from pop culture. Rock is part cultural tradition and it broadcasts Dionysian culture. The main element in the semantic content of rock-culture is identity function. It creates the possibility for creation of new type of relations in postmodern society. Realization of this function is possible if rock music is a nuclear of subculture and culture form.
