Annotation: The article develops the author’s ideas about the moral roots of modern terrorism from the point of view of the necessity of including the moral introspection of the modern civilized world and its crisis processes. Its central idea is that the need for such self-examination is one of the fundamental basics of understanding the ethical side of any confl ict since ancient times. In this sense, religious biblical maxims of the Christian world are in many ways more adequate to the moral foundation of the current world situation. The article gives a brief overview of the main trends in the consideration of domestic and foreign literature of terrorism in general, and especially ethical aspects of its distribution. It is noted that despite the diversity of points of view one side of the issue as a whole remains without suffi cient attention. This is the connection of terrorism and the moral crisis of the modern civilized western style of mankind, which provides rich material for moral resistance to this type of civility on the part of traditional societies, based on a rich moral tradition not only of Islamic countries but also of the Western world. While methodologically the focus is on the relative autonomy of the ethical motivation of terrorism and its Association not only and not so much with the religious attitudes, as is usually considered but more precisely with popular tradition. Although in ancient and current traditional communities to separate these aspects is possible only artifi cially. Next, the article puts forward the thesis that, oddly enough, the ancient Christian biblical maxims present more adequate understanding of the considered aspect. The article gives examples of abstracts, based on the biblical understanding the historical catastrophes as punishment to people for their own sins and calls of Christ to consider any opposition primarily from the point of view of their own guilt. The author believes that, although it seems strange, this increasingly provides the key to understanding the root causes of motivation of terrorism. Methodologically, understanding this aspect plays an important role introduced by A. Bergson, the notion of “closed morality”, which is not always understood by the subject and actually identifi ed in his mind with the customs and tradition. From this point of view the upgrading of standards seems to be a moral disaster and causes a reaction.
