NAMING IN MODERN ARKHANGELSK: ALL-RUSSIAN TRENDS AND REGIONAL SPECIFICS

Annotation: Studying the naming allows to reveal culturological value of names and communicative strategies and tactics specific to the nomination field. The urbanonyms characterize the onomastic space of a modern city and reflect active language processes. The research data base includes more than 1000 names of objects in Arkhangelsk. According to the constructive direction which integrates different paradigms of knowledge, urbanonyms were analyzed from the perspective of a multidimensional approach. An anthropocentric principle shows substantial and methodological aspects of the nomination research taking into account the existing oppositions of socio-cultural situation. A structural-semantic approach helps to determine specifics of regional trends. A communicative approach helps reconstruct presuppositive meanings and designate pragmatic effect, as well as discover the mechanism how linguistic (speech) form of urbanonym depends on the author’s intention (e.g. the use of word play that is the intentional deformation of sustainable structures). During urbanonyms’ analysis, the All-Russian naming trends typical for modern Arkhangelsk were considered. At the same time, the regional specifics of naming were outlined which main factors ares ocioeconomic causes and its socio-cultural consequences. In the article, the prospect of the All-Russian trends and regional specifics matching is designated. Along with that, possibilities to use it in the descriptions for culturological study of Arkhangelsk onomasticon are shown. This analysis uncovered that most of the names are generated according to several productive models-oppositions: for example, synchrony – diachrony, formality – informality, etc. In practical terms, the results of this study can be used in the university courses “Linguoculturology,” “Onomastics” as well as in practice of conducting the examinations in the field of naming. The article contains a description of specific linguistic mechanisms and creative techniques used in naming. The study also analyses the use of certain terms from urbanonymic field.
