Annotation: The article develops the information concept of culture, which, in the author’s opinion, mostly expresses the nature of the social stage of evolution. Information is viewed as a universal property of matter, “responsible” for evolutionary processes and realizing various forms and ways of storage and movement at various stages of development of global evolution. It formulates the socio-cultural principle, exogenous stockpiling, transfer and transformation of information, suggesting that unlike the previous stages of the evolution of matter, the humanity is beginning to expand its distribution on Earth first and then beyond. Culture in the most general form is interpreted as an extragenetic information process, using mostly exogenous (extracorporal) ways of accumulating, transmitting and transforming information in the context of further growth of information content of material systems on the superhighway of global-universal evolution. In order to continue this superhighway, it was necessary to form a new way of accumulating and moving information in the social stage, radically different from the biological-genetic mechanisms of information processes. The study of the phenomenon of culture as an extragenetic information process that characterizes the social stage of evolution, as well as the use of information methods in the study of socio-cultural processes and systems is considered as a subject field and an approach to the formation and development of a new direction: Information Сulturology.
Keywords: global evolution, information, information culture, information culturology, information criterion of development, information approach, culture, cultural genesis, diversity, civilization.
