Annotation: The constant emergence of new educational standards reveals the need to introduce new methods of teaching, which, in turn, should create a favorable environment for the development of various styles of knowledge necessary for the consistent development of a harmonious personality, in the arsenal of which not only the necessary sets of tools and design skills should be present but the necessary types of professionally oriented thought processes rationally integrated into consciousness. The purpose of this article is to discover the capabilities of the mood board analysis technology in the development of analytical thinking of future specialists in the field of design engineering. The article attempts to clarify the origins of the concept of the mood board and find possible domestic counterparts. The essence of the positive impact of the development of a mood board on the development of analytical thinking of future specialists in the field of design engineering is described. The essence of the mood board is revealed, as one of the modern means of conducting preliminary analysis, which carries the potential for the development of both, convertible and divergent types of thinking. The article provides an algorithm for creating an approximate psychological portrait of the end user. It describes the technology of finding the color solutions for design projects. The article presents an analysis of the results of the Department of Design of Kemerovo State Institute of Culture (KemGIK) on the implementation of the technology of board-analysis in the educational process.
Keywords: design project, analytical thinking, collage image, mood board, pre-project analysis, research.
