Annotation: A special role in all spheres of society today are given to the media. The media are gradually beginning to occupy a dominant position in the semantic production companies that has a huge impact on the life of each individual: his mind, emotions, feelings, the nature of its social practices and relations. However, it is necessary to consider the fact that they exist in a specific social context, and that there are different kinds of factors and conditions. An important role in the media is assigned to professional periodicals, which are a form of communication. Therefore, the article considers the Russian periodicals in the field of culture, namely the library field as a communication channel contributing to the increase of flexibility and self-regulation of employees, training and improvement of their knowledge and skills, use, and dissemination of best practices. This is due to the fact that at the present time a new round of development of librarianship, including the modification of the profession of librarian, begins to stand out. Professional journals are a valuable source of the latest scientific and practical information in any subject area. The range of professional periodicals in a library cycle is quite extensive. However, the problem is that most libraries do not have sufficient funding, which affects the ability to subscribe to professional periodicals, depriving the librarians professional development and self-education. And it is a professional publication covering the innovations to describe the innovative techniques on their pages that reflects an interesting debate and experience of libraries, print ready design for library events, and more. Therefore, library professionals are forced to produce the information they need. In connection with the above, the systematization of professional periodicals was performed. Publications are characterized by their diversity and specificity and can be recommended to study by library staff.
