Annotation: Now, the University quality management system not only has not lost its importance, but also, thanks to its potential, has shown ability to transform, diverse functioning, corresponding to new social and economic development of society. The article reflects the results of sociological research of the graduate students (2011-2017) of Kemerovo State Institute of Culture, Faculty of Information Technologies on the discipline “Quality Management System in Library and Information Activities,” such graduates are actively involved in improving the processes accompanying the library activity. Participating in corrective actions on quality management system, they show more accurate and purposeful distribution of duties among librarians, strengthening their communication with the reader’s audience. The perspectives for developing the university quality management system are associated not only with teaching students the theory and methodology of quality management system but also with the process of implementing the external expertise of university accreditation. The author proves that professional and public accreditation of the university could become one of the directions for further development of the university quality management system. For saving financial and organizational resources of higher education institutions, it is obvious to reorient their quality management system to the tasks of professional and public accreditation, strengthening and making more obvious links between universities and external consumers of educational services (employers, applicants and parents). Now an adequate quality management system imitates certain experts on quality at educational and methodical structures of higher educational institutions. In the nearest future, they will be responsible for preparing the reports on self-inspection for granting them in the public and professional organizations which will take part in accreditation of higher education institutions.
